I have been playing SC4 for years now and only yesterday did I discover the other "?". What a cool tool. Now I can see how a house and how its occupants travel.

Well, I think just about everything I could ever want in SimCity has already been said...but one thing I thought of is for any newcomers to the game.

Because we all know how complicated the series is getting, SC5 is not going to get any simpler, which will make it harder for any newcomers to grasp the idea of the game and be able to have fun. So instead of just having those very basic tutorials like in SC4, why not just include some kind of extra simple mini SimCity, sort of like the original games, that new players could use to learn the basics of the game and work they're way up like all the experienced players have without having to go out and buy the old games?

That's just a thought.

That's exactly the idea. I think a lot of people got turned off by SimCity 4's difficulty and complexity, and decided they didn't really like that kind of game because it was too hard. Maybe a little simplicity would get more people hooked on SimCity. wink.gif

A couple days ago I posted an idea and poll on the general discussion board. Although it is an idea for an expansion to SC4, it would work well for SC5. I'm new here and I see now I really should have posted it on this thread.

Although I have not read every word, I have scanned all the posts and see lots of good ideas. Some things kept popping up again and again like grids and weather. I like grids when I'm zoning and building roads but hate them when just viewing the city so I'd like a on/off toggle.

I like the idea of weather but separate that concept from the idea of seasons. Actually it would be seasons that would give you snow in the winter which would be great but would likely have a huge impact on development time especially for the graphics. That is, unless snow never collected on any roof. smile.gif

I very much agree with the idea that buildings should align with diagonal roads; streets should not have to be built in only a straight line or give us gravel roads or some kind of minor road that could.

The idea of resources is good and something I've thought about as well. It was a boon when incorporated in the Civ series and would be great if incorporated into SC5 in a player handled way.

The one thing I hope for more than anything else is that Maxis does not try to keep the game simple!
I'm so tired of dumbed down and online games I hardly ever buy anything just to see if I will like it. I think Lincoln was right when he said "...you can please part of the people all of the time." I'm waiting for my time and hope it's called expansion or SC5.

You mean the lines that seperates each little sqaure? If you press 'g' I think that toggles between on/off.

Thanks SimZilla, I did not know that and had been using my road icon and sometimes the zoning icon for counting squares.

^yea that gets hard to do after a while, especially on long distances. biggrin.gif Until I found that out I was dragging a road and counting the multiples of ten to figure the amount of squares.
